WOW!!! New attractions are to be added in Digha

The West Bengal Government is all set to make Digha a top tourist hub of the state. The beach town is already the top tourist destination for most living in or around Kolkata. The fresh initiatives were recently announced to make the favourite spot, even more attractive for a short quick visit.

The initiatives announced to boost Digha Tourism

• A toy train from Digha to Udaypur

The first initiative to be undertaken by the West Bengal Tourism Department to boost Digha Tourism is the introduction of a toy train. The toy train is to run from Digha to Udaipur, which is located near the border of Odisha. The proposed toy train will run along along the casuarina tree-lined coastline of Digha and New Digha. Tourism officials feel that this will be indeed a very pleasurable trip for tourists and will add a new attraction of Digha. 

• A rope way from Digha to Shankarpur  

Apart from this the Digha Sankarpur Development Authority is also planning to introduce a rope-way from Digha to Shankarpur. Thus once completed as a tourist you would be able to have a complete view of the coastline of Digha from the top. 

• Others 

The other initiative planned is water ATMs. The tourism department is also planning to make the entire Digha and it’s surroundings a plastic free region. These projects are being planned at an estimated cost of Rs 50 Crores and hoped to boost Digha Tourism.

There were many steps taken earlier by the state government to boost Digha as a top tourist spot. These included the introduction of adventure sports and the Digha Gateway.
