West Bengal now a top tourist destination for foreign tourists too

West Bengal is steadily and surely becoming one of the top destinations even for tourists from abroad. This is what a News Paper Article in a leading English Newspaper reported recently.

As per the report in terms of the number of tourist footfalls, the state grew by   a CAGR of 26.5% between FY 2011 and FY 2016, against a CAGR of 14.5% between FY 2001 and FY 2010. The grand festival of Durga Puja is one of the top major attractions which draw a lot of foreign tourists to the state. As per the minister for tourism of the state the state is targeting to include many green field projects in the state’s tourism menu and also plans to invest an amount to the tune of around Rs 5000 crores over the next 5 five years in infrastructure and service department.

He also stated that the one of the biggest tourism projects coming up in West Bengal is at Gajaldoba in North Bengal. There also several other tourist development projects at Jharkhali in the Sunderbans, along with Purulia, Sabujdep in Hoogly and many more.

The minister also felt that West Bengal is very diverse in terms of its geographical contours which include the mountains of the Himalayas to the beautiful beaches on the Bay of Bengal.

According to a senior official at the CII National Committee on Tourism and Hospitality, Kolkata definitely has the potential to create its own identity as a Gateway to the North East. He also felt that this is the ideal time to invest in the state towards the development of tourism.

As a tourist in the state you would be happy to take note of so much happening in the state. This means that a lot of new tourism spots would come up in the times ahead. Thus along with the evergreen tourist destinations in West Bengal like Digha and Darjeeling, you would have many newly developed tourist destinations in the state soon. So from here on you could visit a whole set of new tourist destinations right here in West Bengal itself.
