According to some media, sources said some industrialists have also expressed a keen interest in setting up star hotels and develop Digha. In fact, there is a big business group that announced the setting up of an eco-tourism project having 50 cottages with an investment of approximately Rs 50 crore.

It is true that the Government of West Bengal has taken the initiative to transform Digha, Udaypur-Talasari beach, situated at a distance of only 2 km, languishes in neglect. With Odisha Government lacking the intent to tap its tourism potential, the beach has turned into a dumping yard.
