What this initiative is about?
According to this latest plan the state government of West Bengal has decided to build a tourist resort based on the model of a traditional Bengal village in Digha. This is the brainchild of the West Bengal Chief Minister Smt. Mamata Banerjee. According to the report this project has been named as “Bongo Sanskritic Gram” by her. As you would visualize the traditional Bengal village is about mud cottages with thatched roofs, ox carts, village rooms which are lit up by clay lamps, Bauls singing their melodies with jhumurs tied to their feet.
When it comes to culture then food is, of course, a big part. So to give a taste of the traditional Bengali food, there would be the Aromatic rice, dal, curries like “Shaakh”, vegetable curries like “Chachari” and much more. Fish, of course, is a big part of Bengali cuisine and that is why there would be the Fish Gravi” Puto Macher Jhol”. There would also be the other preparations like the Shinghi fish, the preparations of Koi, Magur and much more.
This latest project has been planned around the Public, Private Partnership (PPP) model. This mega project is to be implemented by the Digha- Sankarpur Development Authority. So all in all, this entire project is bound to be a mega success. Digha, of course, has been the traditional favorite tourist destination for all residing in and around this area. The latest project is only another attraction to this very beautiful place.
